This is from microfilm Ted Kaufman, Dallas, TX and typed and submitted by Carolyn Cooper. It includes the names of the heads of families, the number of white people, both male and female, over and under the age of 21, the number of *free people of color and the number of slaves. At the time of this census, Monroe County, which was formed in 1815, included all or part of every present-day county in Alabama except Washington, formed 1800, and Madison, formed 1808, and those counties that were created later from the Indian Territories to the east and west. Although Baldwin and Clarke Counties were formed in 1809 and 1812, respectively, a portion of the present-day counties were in Monroe County in 1816.
