Perhaps he had some difficulty in hearing, or was rushing to complete his work when he left out syllables and final consonants of names. Where I am pretty sure of what the name really was, I have noted it in the remarks column. Another idiosyncrasy of the enumerator was that he did not specify color for any female born in Florida except for a few black and mulatto women. Elizabeth Marshall
