This enumerator uses initials and abbreviations
frequently.

Mary "A"   Sarah  "A"  etc.

From other census in same year/area

half the females were  Sarahann  Maryann Lucyann  Nancyann 

so the "A"  probably  means that most of the time.

He also uses

Thos   for Thomas

Wm for William

Robt for Robert

Saml for Samuel

Benja for Benjamin

Barba  for Barbara



His small letter  O's  and  a's  are nearly identical

and look like  a's.


Jas or  Jos is one abbreviation   for  James or Joseph?


Many pages are faded and parts unreadable.
