Most of its land area came from Craven County in 1872 and the Goose Creek Island area from Beaufort County in 1874. The new county was divided into five Townships. TOWNSHIP NO. 1 Township No.1 consist now (year 2000) what is Olympia, Reelsboro, Granstboro, Silverhill, Goose Creek, and Breads Creek. The writing of this enumerator was good. There were at times that it looked as if he would add a letter. Also at times his S and L would look the same. When the enumerator sent his work in, it was date stamped on each page of the right hand corner. Township No. 1 was "Recd. July 16, 1880". Half of the pages were stamped with a number and a letter. There is one stamped page number with the letter "A" or "C" for every two pages that the enumerator has. The letter "A" was assigned the odd numbered pages and the letter "C" assisgned to the even numbered pages. The page numbers with the letters "B" and "D" are assigned by the transcriber. Page No. 1 Supervisor's Dist. No. 1 Enumeration Dist. No. 104 Note A- The Census Year begins June 1, 1879 and ends May 31, 1880. Note B- All Persons will be included in the 1st day of June, 1880. No Others will. Children Born Since June 1, 1880 will be Omitted. Memebers of Families who have Died Since June 1, 1880 Will be Included. Note C- Questions Nos. 13, 14, 22 and 23 are not to be asked to persons under 10 years of Ages.
