When the pages were bound into volumes for the U.S. Archives the papers were unfolded and thus do not follow a consecutive pattern. I have noted in the remarks column on which bound pages each group of names can be found. The first number in the remarks column was a total kept by the enumerator that was not labeled. In many cases, this total does not match the actual numbers listed in the other columns. Also, it is good to note that in 1820 a portion of what is now Holmes County was included in Coshocton County. The following is text found on those pages: The number of Persons within my Division, consisting of the County of Coshocton appears in a Schedule hereunto assigned, Subscribed by me this Sixth day of February in the year one Thousand eight Hundred and twenty one. Wilson McGowen, Assistant to the Marshall of Ohio District We hereby Certify that a correct _____(unreadable)________ signed by the said Wilson McGowen ____(unreadable)________ up at two of the most public places within the County of Coshocton, open to the inspection of all concerned.
