In 1880 the state of Georgia was divided for enumeration purposes by the Census Bureau into five Supervisory Districts. SD 1 consisted of counties in northwestern Georgia, SD 2 of counties in northeastern Georgia, SD 3 of southeastern counties, SD 4 of west central counties, and SD 5 of southwestern Georgia.
