In 1880 the state of Tennessee was divided for enumeration purposes by the Census Bureau into five Supervisory Districts. SD 1 consisted of counties in eastern Tennessee, SD 2 of counties in east central Tennessee, SD 3 of central counties, SD 4 of west central counties, and SD 5 of western Tennessee. The counties contained in each district are listed below. Please click on the SD that the county you want is in.

The Tennessee 1890 Federal Population Schedules were completely destroyed by fire in the Commerce Department Building in January 1921. The Special Schedules Enumerating Union Veterans and Widows in Tennessee do survive, shown below.
